Did you know?

Have you ever noticed how small creative ideas — from green mobility and inclusive design to community-based innovation — are helping cities realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

In a Creative City, sustainable growth is powered by culture, technology, and social innovation. At its core lie the knowledge economy, inclusive design, and a low-carbon transition. The UNESCO Creative Cities Network currently includes 350 member cities worldwide, with 18 in China — making China the country with the largest number of member cities globally.

According to UNESCO Culture and Creativity Report 2023, the global cultural and creative industries generate USD 4.3 trillion, representing 6.1% of the world’s total economic output.

UNESCO, in collaboration with UNDP, is supporting the upcoming 2025 Re:Think Innovation Week – Harnessing Creativity for a Sustainable Future.Together, we aim to highlight how culture, innovation, and youth creativity are shaping more sustainable, inclusive cities worldwide.
