Zhou Fan, a young actor from Hunan Opera Protection and Inheritance Center of Changsha, was awarded the 10th China Drama Award • Plum Performance Award (The 32nd China Drama Plum Award) with her excellent performance in "My Lady, seeing me through my words". It is known that it has been 29 years that Hunan Opera actors reached again the highest award in Chinese Drama Performance Art.
"My Lady, seeing me through my words" is a modern historical Hunan Opera based on the life story of Li Run, the wife of Tan Sitong. Tan is a reformist and one of the "Six Gentlemen of Wuxu ". The words "My Lady, seeing me through my words" are from the letters written by Tan to Li. The drama tells the story of Li continuing her husband’s unfinished career after his death. She made great efforts in gender equality and women's liberation, and was named the "perfect woman" of the generation. The drama focuses on Li's progress as a noblewoman to spiritual liberation and personal independence.
Hunan Opera, with a history of more than 600 years, is an important local opera genre in Hunan Province. Its four major vocal systems of Gaoqiang, Kunqiang, Dipaizi and Tanqiang jointly carry the genes of Hunan culture.
