Fisher, from the United States, has lived in Changsha for 12 years,now he owns a gym and a western restaurant in the city. As a fitness fanatic, he has spent most of the 15 fitness years in the gym, working out on his own as while as coaching other members who have fitness needs. Since five years ago, he and his wife have joined in charity activities every year, including fundraising for Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation and Changsha Butterfly Home through burpee and chest-to-ground push-up challenges. They have attracted many people to participate and helped a lot of children with special needs.
Why come to Changsha?
"I was a mortgage broker in Las Vegas, USA before I came to China. Although I made a fortune, I didn't feel satisfied and meaningful with poor health condition. I came to Changsha to search for something in this to-be modern city, for example peach and self-promotion. I never expected that I would live in this city for 12 years and possess a gym and a restaurant focusing on the healthy lifestyle."
How is life in Changsha?
"I am living a happy life in the happiest city of China.I met my wife here and we had an adorable daughter. Changsha is quite similar to my hometown Philadelphia, with hot summers and humid winters, and of course the great food. I like to immerse myself into the world I love and restart training and living every morning, which makes us healthier."
"I stay in the gym from 8: 30 AM to 10 PM everyday, this is the place where I can get better and better. After the workout, I soak myself in an ice bucket and then take a sauna, which helps blood circulation and improves immunity. Not long ago, we helped two charity organizations through fitness fundraising, I broke the world record by finishing 1,434 push-ups in 60 minutes,and I feel this experience is amazing."
"I have fitness enthusiasts in my gym everyday, I take videos for them and post on my social media accounts.I will watch with them together, checking out the actions and making timely correction. I enjoy the process of realizing a better result."
What is the favorite place in Changsha?
"My wife and I have been to many places in Changsha, and I like the city everywhere. Our first store was in Nanmenkou, a famous place for the local food and unforgettable atmosphere. Changsha food is my preference, and many dishes in my restaurant are inspired by Philadelphia and Changsha food jointly, just like my Philadelphia sandwich of stir-fried meat with chili."
