  The Changsha Symphony Orchestra · Tan Dun Hometown Music Festival will be held at the Changsha Concert Hall from July 17 to 20. The festival takes science and technology, art, and people-to-people exchanges as the fundamental goal of development, with the purpose of promoting the prosperity and development of Changsha's cultural undertakings. The festival is jointly created by internationally renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun and the Changsha Symphony Orchestra. Chinese soprano Lei Jia and artists from the Bard College Conservatory of Music join the cast.

  The festival is hosted by the Hunan Performing Arts Group, the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, and the Beijing Poly Theatre Management Co., Ltd. It is undertaken by the Changsha Symphony Orchestra, the Hunan Performance Company, the Changsha Concert Hall, and the Changsha Binjiang Cultural Park Management Center. Wang Zhi, head of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra, is the general planner of the festival. Tan Dun, also a honorary artistic director of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra, serves as the festival's artistic director and conductor.

  The four-day festival features four concerts and a forum on music and future education. The concerts include Opera and Dance Theatre: Deer of Nine Colours & Heart Sutra; the chamber music concert EHCO; Country Music: The Future of the Past; and, Changsha Ancient Nao: A 4,000-Year Journey Through Time and Symphony.
