The UCCN Annual Conference constitutes a unique platform for Creative Cities worldwide, to exchange and to foster culture and creativity enabled solutions, in order to tackle contemporary urban challenges. Comprising of several main sessions, thematic segments, cultural side events, and its Mayors’ Forum, the Annual Conference is an annual highlight for the members of the Network, during which future trend-setting cooperation projects are conceived and partnerships are initiated.

For the 2025 UCCN Annual Conference, under the proposed theme of Sharing cities, UNESCO and the city of Querétaro will invite Creative Cities worldwide to explore how creative solutions can be developed to address the multifaceted urban issues and opportunities, and how nurturing a culture of sharing resources, knowledge and experiences can help cities harness the potential of local community-building. The Host City will collaborate closely with UNESCO to present to all UCCN member cities a meaningful Annual Conference in 2025, in a world which is undergoing a rapid societal transformation.

As a long-standing cultural hub, Querétaro celebrates its traditions while embracing cutting-edge ideas. With the concept of intercultural exchange being rooted in the city’s history and reflected in its design and heritage, Querétaro continues developing strategic urban policies and showing great commitment to the Network and to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, through innovative cooperation projects and by placing inclusivity and sustainability at the heart of its local cultural and creative activity.

The 2024 UCCN Annual Conference will take place in Braga, from 1 to 5 July next. Designated in 2017, the Creative City of Media Arts will host the Network’s annual gathering under the theme “Bringing Youth to the Table for the Next Decade”, inviting the 350 member cities worldwide to rethink youth involvement in and contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, through culture and creativity.
