2022 Internet Yuelu Summit Unveiled in Changsha

Experts and talents from the internet, investment sectors and academia delivered keynote speeches. Focusing on “building Changsha into a strong capital” strategy, the roundtable forum initiated dialogues in the key areas including intelligent manufacturing, innovation development, digital empowerment, openness and integration. 24 major projects were signed in the opening ceremony, with a total investment of 83.31 billion yuan and Yuelu Declaration was issued, which will provide new impetus for the high-quality development of digital economy in Changsha.

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, declared the summit open. Li Dianxun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, delivered a speech. Wu Guiying, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee presided over the opening ceremony. Chen Fei, vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, Deng Qunce, secretary general of the People's Government of Hunan Province, academicians and experts from relevant industries attended the opening ceremony and main activities.

Themed on “Innovation-empowered Changsha Toward A Digital Future”, the summit invited experts, talents and entrepreneurs in internet industry both online and offline and conducted panel discussions on the topics of “scientific innovation leads the digital future”, “building a strong capital and smart manufacturing”, “building specialized, refined, featured, innovative and digital-empowered SME”, by focusing on innovations on digital economy and regional economic development, and other fields. Ideas were exchanged on the new trend of internet development and opportunities of digital economy development.

When the first Internet Yuelu Summit held in 2014, its influence was very limited. While today, it has extended from Changsha to the whole world and has become a popular brand of internet industry in both Hunan and Changsha. Over the past 9 years, Yuelu Summit has fully advanced and integrated with the development of Hunan and Changsha. It has become an important embodiment of high-quality development driven by innovation in Hunan, thanks to its aggregation effects on industries, talents and innovation. The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Hunan Province have always put much attention to the development of digital economy. Early in 2012, a leading group was settled up for Hunan digital economy development. Starting from scratch and developing to a strong industry, the mobile internet industry in Hunan has maintained over 20% growth for 8 consecutive years over the past 9 years. It is showed that in 2021, the total amount of digital economy in Hunan province has exceeded 130 million yuan, increasing 17% than that of the previous year, achieving a double-digit growth for 4 consecutive years. The steady improvement of competitiveness and influence of digital economy has made itself a new driving force for the high-quality development of economic and social development of Hunan province.

The 9 years’ progress of Yuelu Summit witnessed the flourishing of Hunan internet industry and the extraordinary development of digital economy in Hunan Xiangjiang New Area in the past 10 years. It also witnessed Changsha, as the 5th city, jumping into in internet industry. With Xiangjiang New Area at its core, the digital economy in Changsha has seen new driving force and Yuelu Mountain has become a more popular brand. The total amount of digital economy in Changsha is expected to reach 400 billion yuan. In the 2021 top 100 Digital Economy Cities, Changsha ranked 12, making itself a new first-tier city in the digital economy. As a cluster of internet industries in Hunan, progress has been made in Xiangjiang New Area in each passing day. So far, a software business mode for various scenarios and an internet development system represented by mobile service industry have been formed, having attracted 225 sized enterprises. In 2021, the total amount of digital economy of enterprises in Xiangjiang New Area achieved 177 billion yuan, accounting for 44% of that of Changsha. In the recent years, Xiangjiang New Area has been focusing on “intelligent equipment, intelligent vehicles, intelligent terminals and power IC” and paying close attention on the 5 high-end manufacturing, i.e. advanced energy storage materials, high-end equipment and artificial intelligence, genetic engineering and life technologies, intelligent terminals, 3D printing and industrial robots. With the leading enterprises as the core, Xiangjiang New Area has been keeping fostering associated enterprises and extending industrial chain, and working hard to form an industrial chain ecosystem.
