On the afternoon of January 22, the Li Fenglong Art Exhibition kicked off at Changsha Museum of Art. Co-hosted by Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, and Beijing Fine Art Academy, the exhibition is open to the public for free till February 22.

During the exhibition, a total of 120 pieces of work will be on display for the very first time, all of which were created by Li Fenglong in the past two years. Themed on “Tiger”, those works aim to celebrate the advent of the Year of the Tiger, including refined rubbings of bronze, bricks, tiles and seals, rubbings of Buddha statues, Buddhist stele and flying apsaras, Chinese calligraphy rubbings, and stele rubbings.

Born in Hunan, Li Fenglong has studied Chinese painting and calligraphy for more than 35 years and specialized in ink paintings of the Song and Yuan Dynasties. He is an expert in painting flowers, birds, landscapes, ancient artifacts, seal cutting, calligraphy, and poetry. His Chinese paintings were awarded as the “National Outstanding Works” by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Li is a romantic, imaginative, and creative artist. With a deep understanding of traditional Chinese culture, especially Jingchu culture (Jingchu culture is an important part of ancient Chinese culture and is a regional culture that rose in Jianghan Basin from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period.), he integrates elements of religion, traditional beliefs, traditional literature, and traditional art into Chinese paintings, enriching the artistic expressions in tiger-themed paintings. He also creates a unique art form combining “plane and incomplete rubbings” with antiquarian paintings, refreshing viewers with more traditional cultural elements.
