星辰在线 | 01 14, 2022

On January 13, the launching ceremony of Intangible Cultural Heritage Education Base was held at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, Yuhua District, Changsha.

The Museum aims to create brand projects like “off-campus practice-oriented curriculum” and “introducing intangible cultural heritage in textbooks, classrooms, and campuses”. It has selected 11 projects, including movable-type printing, paper cut, bamboo weaving, and shadow play, and introduced them in 18 schools at Yuhua District in the fall semester of 2021.

With these efforts, the Museum was awarded “Intangible Cultural Heritage Education Base” and “Intangible Cultural Heritage and Innovative Design Center”. A total of 103 students from ten schools at Yuhua District have won awards in the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor Skills Competition”. Experts from colleges and universities exchanged their views on the practices.

As China introduced guidelines to reduce excessive homework and off-campus tutoring in compulsory education, the base can serve for the intangible cultural heritage education to meet the diverse needs of students. The Museum is also an important window for international friends to know about Changsha and Hunan and helps fine traditional Chinese culture and handicrafts go global.
