On Jan 12, the 2021 “Love Changsha@Changsha” Internet Culture Festival Award Ceremony was held. The ceremony commended outstanding online media works and internet accounts with a positive impact in 2021.
Last year, Changsha witnessed many heart-warming moments. Last May, tens of thousands of people with an outpouring of grief mourned the beloved Prof. Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice and a symbol of China’s scientific prowess. These touching moments were recorded by Qin Hao, a blogger recording Changsha’s touching moments on WeChat. During the 2021 “Love Changsha@Changsha” Internet Culture Festival Award Ceremony, Qin also shared her own stories with Changsha over the past 15 years.
Changsha is a city with a profound history. To ensure that more people can appreciate the city’s history, media groups including Sina, NetEase Games, Baidu, and business giants have made great contributions. For example, Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS) produced the Yuelu Academy-themed documentary to revive the 1,000-year-old academy. Narrated in a chronological order, the documentary employs visually arresting scenes and well-written lines to deftly interweave historical settings with renowned figures, helping audiences to dive into traditional culture and Chinese civilization.
In the new era, Changsha is making even greater progress on all fronts. Changsha has become the host city of many international and national events, including the First International Summit on BDS Applications, Internet Yuelu Summit, Changsha International Construction Equipment Exhibition (CICEE), China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE).
Changsha is home to both many high-caliber professionals and cultural IPs such as Wenheyou, Sexy Tea, and Dim Sum Bureau of Momo.
In 2021, Changsha has been rated as “the Happiest Cities in China” for 14 consecutive years, 2021 Top 100 Internet Celebrity Cities and Top 10 Inspiring Cities in China, which shows the great vitality and potential of the city.
