长沙晚报 | 12 22, 2021

The Changsha Azalea Arts Festival kicked off in mid-December and will last till next January, presenting nearly 100 programs of Chinese local operas, music and fine arts at renowned cultural landmarks in Changsha, including Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Arts Centre (MICA), Changsha Museum, Changsha Library, Changsha Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and Changsha Concert Hall. The Azalea Arts Festival is an event not only for artists but also for the general public.

On the evening of December 16, Mr. Tan Dun, a leading figure of contemporary classical music, together with the Changsha Symphony Orchestra performed “Nv Shu: The Secret Songs of Women” and “Pictures at an Exhibition”, kicking off the festival. On December 31, at the third session of Changsha New Year’s Eve Concert, the audience celebrated the advent of 2022 together with the International Master Philharmonic Orchestra and the festive music of Light Cavalry Overture, Voices of Spring, Carmen Suite, Chit-Chat Polka, Thunder and Lightning Polka, Emperor Waltzes, Spring Festival Overture, Die Fledermaus Overture, The Skaters’ Waltz, The Blue Danube, etc.

Apart from international performers, local artists also brought amazing performances, including a local opera of “the Story of Half-Quilt”, telling a heartwarming story of the Red Army once shared by President Xi Jinping.

Going forward, Changsha will keep being a dedicated builder of the International Hub of Culture and Creativity.
