Fanzhou Ink and Wash Paintings Exhibition at Li Zijian Art Museum

星辰在线 | 11 22, 2021

On November 20, the opening night of the Fan Zhou Ink Wash Paintings Exhibition was held at Li Zijian Art Museum. The ten-meter-high square hall presented the ten-meter-high ink wash painting in holograms, transforming the museum into a dreamlike mountain forest.

Over the past two decades, Fan Zhou has dwelled in the depth of mountains, devoting himself to artistic creation. He explored Chinese ink and wash paintings, played Tai Chi, studied traditional Chinese culture, Chinese and foreign art theories and learnt from contemporary art. Years of dedication has given him a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and painting. In recent years, Fan Zhou has proposed the concept of “rhythmic landscape painting” which blends musical elements and calligraphic strokes into painting creation. The landscape paintings of the artist boast profound ethnic and cultural connotations and a strong personal artist style, reflecting a unique outlook of the Chinese painting circle.

Fan Zhou has held solo exhibitions, lectures on Chinese painting and recitals in Paris, Berlin, Vancouver, New York, Kyoto and so on. Many of his works have been collected by museums worldwide.

This is the first time that the Fanzhou Ink Wash Paintings Exhibition has been held in Hunan. It is indeed a “feast of art” of ink and wash, tradition and modernity, and guqin and Tai Chi.
