长沙市媒体艺术发展中心 | 09 14, 2021

On September 13, the “Qingmiao Youth Project” (hereinafter referred to as the Project) that introduces theater and performing arts into campuses kicked off at the Grand Theatre of Meixihu International Culture and Arts Centre.

Dressed in costumes, young performers from Luvalley Primary School performed a dance “The Fairy of Plum Blossom” to the audience. As the Chinese saying goes, “the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold”. Plum blossom is a classic image in traditional Chinese culture. At the performance, the children played the roles of resilient fairies of plum blossoms braving the cold and adversity in winter. It is reported that nearly 700 children from 10 primary schools in Changsha will perform on stage in the coming week.

This is the second year of the Project. This is a pilot project to promote the development of aesthetic education. He Wen, the initiator of the Project believes that children’s art education starts from the family; secondly, it requires effective training from professional institutions; finally, it needs state-owned enterprises and public institutions to contribute their due part.

As a public welfare-oriented theater and performing arts program, the “Qingmiao Youth Project” mainly engages students aged from 3 to 16 years old in Hunan Province and aims to enhance children’s verbal expression, physical coordination, imagination, creativity, aesthetic appreciation, teamwork skills and problem-solving capacity.

In the future, the Project will work with more schools to present high-quality performances every year, so as to cultivate more young talent.
