Changsha Joins Daegu’s Photo Exhibition of Sister and Friendship Cities

长沙市媒体艺术发展中心 | 08 05, 2021

Since April, Daegu Metropolitan City, Changsha’s sister city in the Republic of Korea (ROK), has been holding photo exhibitions on its official website for the promotion of Sister Cities and Friendship Cities. On August 4, Changsha was invited to take the relay.

Zheng Jianxin, mayor of Changsha, sent a congratulatory message to this event. In his message, Changsha and Daegu developed ties when they were both selected as the Culture Cities of East Asia in 2017. In 2018, the two cities officially twinned. In recent years, the two cities have been expanding exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, culture, education, youth and other fields. In the face of the unexpected COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the two cities have worked in unity to help each other overcome difficulties and actively carried out anti-pandemic cooperation. Noting that 2021 and 2022 mark the China-ROK Year of Cultural Exchanges and 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Changsha hopes that, with the joint efforts of both sides, their bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields will yield new outcomes and reach a new high.

The Relay Web Photo Exhibition of Sister and Friendship Cities was designed to comfort the people who have been exhausted from COVID-19 for a long time now and to help them experience cities overseas vividly, albeit in a virtual space.

This relay photo exhibition was launched last December, when Daegu and its Friendship City Kobe held photo exhibitions of each other on their websites in celebration of the 10th anniversary of exchange between the two cities. Starting in April, Daegu hosts photo exhibitions of its Sister and Friendship Cities every month.

So far, the exhibition has displayed photos of six cities of Daegu, including Yokohama (Japan), Milan (Italy), Atlanta (United States), Wuhan (China), Milwaukee (United States), and Changsha (China).
